Porters Ranch is a large (9051 acres) leasehold over 2 surface anticlines in the Huasna northeast section of the Santa Maria Basin. The few old wells drilled in the area confirmed the presence of oil saturated Monterey Shale.
A good grid of 2D seismic has been obtained and together with the well control will form the framework for future drilling in the area.
It is believed there are a number of undrilled anticlines which have the potential to house economic volumes of oil.
